I figured I might as well swing by the Nevada State Capitol while I was in the area. The building itself was closed but, oh, the grounds are absolutely lush – filled with trees that are native to Nevada. Truly an oasis! Reno has a bit of elegance and a bit of down-at-the heels. I got there early evening, so I only walked around downtown for about 90 minutes. Vegas and Reno are so overwhelmingly associated with casinos, that it’s good to get a little sense of who they are as actual civic communities.
