I cannot say enough about how much Girls for a Change or its powerhouse founder and director Angela Patton captivated my mind and my heart. The philosophy of the organization is to hear, support and resource the girls in bringing their vision of what is possible into being. The age ranges are from six years old into young adulthood, and the programs are so comprehensive I can’t fathom how they do it all – but they do, and they do it well. What a brilliant encompassing of social services and social change! Seriously, check them out. We need this type of model and leadership!
Such a welcoming, colorful, organized place. A great space for inspiration, learning, creativity and community.
A moment of quiet before the girls arrive.
Opportunities to play as well to learn.
They also have a Tutoring & Computer Lab; a Science/Tech/Engineering/Art/Math space, and a kitchen area for socializing.
This mural in support of a schools improvement initiative was cleverly done in chalkboard style.
Chad hanging out with some of the girls at the GfC space.
The raised plant beds in the back yard were just hours away from some Spring TLC! The girls, their mentors and community supporters grow vegetables, herbs and flowers each year.
