I have been hearing people swoon about Sedona for years, and now I know what they are swooning about! Funny, I apparently had been to Flagstaff before. I hiked in Grand Canyon in 2006-ish with friends who planned everything, so my brain was in cruise control. We had breakfast in Old Town Flagstaff before we set off on our adventures. Oh, hello Old Town! I just recognized you!
Also: I took my first trip to see an RV mechanic in Flagstaff. I helped him figure out what was wrong with the water pump in my rig. I was pretty proud of myself, gettin’ all mechanically-inclined ‘n’ shit. And I realized I was finally getting comfortable saying “my rig.”
Gorgeous Sedona
”You’re gonna be in Sedona? I’ll be in Flagstaff! Let’s meet for coffee and talk about possibly working together on my website.” Dang, I felt like such a big shot.
Old Town Flagstaff
My first visitors! Chad & Noemi drove out from L.A. to see me! Chad, who has been in many a Shakespeare play, could not make himself say Flagstaff. It came out of his mouth as Falstaff every time.
I had a smashing good time listening to KUYI as I drove hither and thither in Arizona. What an eclectic playlist! Traditional Native music, modern Native songs of all genres, 70s soft rock, classic rock, folk, alt rock, grunge, rockabilly, country, bluegrass ballads, R&B, funk, blues, reggae, new wave, punk… And it all hangs together as great road music. Bravo! Brava!
